When you’re scrolling through the website of Sherpa, you’ll find magnificent pictures of their new collection that was shot in Jordan. With the following trip plan, you can discover Jordan the Sherpa way.

Arrival to Amman

Day 1. Upon arrival you’re brought to Amman for your overnight stay. Today you can rest from your flights, or head towards down town for a first impression of Jordan’s capital city.

Exploring Amman from a different perspective

Day 2. Today you start with a visit to a local cooperative, just outside Amman. In Iraq al Amir you will find not only a fantastic view over orchards on steep hills, but you’ll also have a first introduction to what beauty Jordan has to offer. You start with a visit to Qasr Al Abd, a little castle that has been fantastically preserved. Yet, it’s still a mystery why this castle is here and what it served for. You continue to the Iraq al Amir ladies cooperative for a short stop, before you head back to Amman for lunch.

In the afternoon you’ll head on a city tour where you’re guided by a Tourism student from the Jordan University. He or she will show you around the best places of Amman. From the best Falafel in Amman, via little shortcuts, introducing you to locals that have a huge heart for their city, and making stops at their businesses, to the main highlights of the city like the Amman citadel and Roman theater. While you hear all about the history, but also about Amman today. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to make a picture on the steps of the Citadel, like Sherpa Adventure Gear in Jordan did! The tour ends with a locally prepared dinner, where-after you head back to your hotel for the overnight stay.

Exploring the Kings Way

Day 3. Today you’ll take the scenic Kings Way, which brings you from Amman to Little Petra. On the way you have the possibility to stop at the major highlights of this scenic road, or stop at the lesser known sites. You can choose to stop at an arrange of different sites you can find while hitting the road. For example with a stop at Qasr Mushatta, a desert castle and UNESCO world heritage, which you rarely find in a Jordan trip. Or visit some religious sites such as Madaba or Mount Nebo. More south the Kings Way you’ll find fantastic viewpoints over the Wadi Mujib Dam, the biggest crusaders castle of the Middle East. Make a stop in the Dana Nature Reserve (or optionally book an extra extension walking this fantastic valley).

After Shobak, make a little detour through the Al Hisheh valley, which brings you to the camp of tonight, in Little Petra. In this yet different landscape, you’ll find yourself in a beautiful area. Climb up the mountains for spectacular sunsets! In the evening you’ll enjoy a buffet dinner at the camp, where-after you head to your private Bedouin tent for the night.

Petra, an adventure by itself

Day 4. Today you’ll head together with a local Bedouin towards Petra. But not the Petra like any tourist would discover; together you’ll walk towards the biggest and best preserved monument of Petra: the Monastery. You continue your way towards a cave inside Petra, where a local lunch will be served to you. After a short break, and instead of walking out the ‘normal route’ the local guide will take you via Wadi Mataha, the valley where everyone gets lost’, out of Petra. If you still have energy you can make a quick stop at the remains of the castle, laying just there, or head directly to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 5. Today you’ll start with a tour around Petra that starts from the main entrance. Via the mystic Siq you’ll wander and wonder when you’ll finally see the iconic Treasury. Once there, take a cup of coffee while being amazed by this world wonder. From here you can continue your way along the most colorful rocks in Petra. For example by heading up to the high place of sacrifice, but walking your way out via the other side, Wadi Farasa. Here you find some of the brightest tombs of Petra. In the later afternoon you’ll head towards Wadi Rum for a fantastic sunset and evening with the Bedouins.

Visit the high red sand-dunes, inscriptions and be amazed by this surprisingly beautiful and bright colored desert. After a morning of adventuring through Wadi Rum you head towards Aqaba. After checking in into your hotel, you have a free afternoon in Aqaba. You can decide to head to down-town, the public or private beach or partake in one of the other many activities Aqaba has on offer. Overnight stay in Aqaba.

From Red Sea to Dead Sea

Day 7. But not without making some awesome stops on the way! In the morning you’ll head via yet another road to the lowest point on earth. Via the Dead Sea Highway you head, through an every changing landscape and soft white sand-dunes towards a beautiful gorge. Here you can eat your heart out while hiking through this amazing valley. Wade through the stream of water, hike over big boulders and make your way through Wadi Numeira. You end the day at a resort at the Dead Sea. While the sun is setting, you can totally relax while floating in the salty waters.
