Day 1: Arrival day. You arrive at Amman Airport and will be assisted by our airport representative in getting an individual visa; the visa cost is 40 JOD per person. Transfer by car to a 3* hotel in Madaba; a mostly Christian town. You can visit the St. George church and the mosaics at the archeological museum. We can recommend you a very nice Jordanian dinner at a local and unique restaurant: Haret Djoudna. Overnight at a 3* Hotel in Madaba, including breakfast.

Day 2: Visit Petra. At 08.30 AM you will be picked up for the 3 hour transfer to Petra. Upon arrival in Wadi Musa you will be taken to the hotel where you can leave your luggage (Early check-in if possible). A short walk takes you to the visitor center of Petra where the driver will buy your entry tickets and arrange the local guide who takes you on the 3 hour City tour via the Siq, the Treasury, the street of façades and the colonnaded street. The guided tour ends near the museum / restaurant and the rest of the day you are free to explore the site some more; climb up to the monastery or the high place of Sacrifice.

Today you will have dinner in one of the local restaurants (included) and you will meet your guide for the horse ride. Overnight at a 3* Hotel in Wadi Musa (Petra), including breakfast.

Day 3: Start of the ride in the mountains. Today’s the day! At 8.30 AM you will be picked up at the hotel and taken to the starting point of the ride. In the mountains you start your adventure with great views over Petra. We always recommend wearing a riding helmet on the first day as the area is very rocky. You will be riding for about 3 hours via the villages of Taybet and Rajev, where you will enjoy the first lunch under Prince Hassan castle, in an area with natural springs and tree gardens with amazing views over Petra and Wadi Araba. After lunch we continue for another 2.5 hours via the viewpoint of Dilagha and then descending down into Wadi Thugra where we camp. Upon arrival, the horses get water and food and then you can set up your tent. A campfire is made and the first evening under the starts can be enjoyed!

Horse riding: From Wadi Musa (Petra) via Taybet, Rajev, Dilagha to Wadi Thugra

Day 4: To Wadi Rum. After breakfast you take down your tent, you brush and saddle your horse and the ride can start! We ride via a small Bedouin village and slowly but surely mountains become desert; we ride about 2.5 hours until we reach “the 3 trees”, the only shady place in this area where we have lunch. After lunch, we ride towards the village of Humayma, where we lead the horses across the Desert Highway; traffic is slow here and it’s easy to cross. Now we have arrived into the north part of Wadi Rum, the Kharaza area. Here are nice opportunities for a trot and a canter. The riding is about 2 hours to the camp location; a beautiful U shape rock formation and sandy area. Be quick to take the saddle of your horse, he can’t wait to take a good sand-bath. It’s the perfect spot to see the moon rise over the mountains and to see a beautiful sunrise the next morning.

Horse riding: From Wadi Thugra – Humayma (start of Wadi Rum) – Khazara

Day 5: Further into the desert. After breakfast, the third day of riding begins in a stunning part of the desert, far away from the tourist areas. Today we will see natural rock bridges, the “mushroom”, and inscriptions and there will be plenty of nice sandy roads for long canters. In the morning we ride about 2.5 hours to our shady lunch location. Again there is plenty of time to relax, enjoy lunch, maybe take a little nap, make pictures and enjoy the scenery. After lunch we continue on endless sandy roads, perfect for long canters. In this area the sand has many colors so keep those cameras ready! The afternoon ride will be 2,5 to 3 hours to the camp location; a small canyon, protected from the wind and nice and sandy for the horses.

Horse riding: From Khazara in Wadi Rum – outside the protected area via Mushroom rock towards the south.

Day 6: Last day in the desert (4 day riding program). Last day of riding! After breakfast we ride via mudflats, ideal for a nice gallop, towards the desert village of Disi. Before we reach the village we have our last lunch in the desert. In Disi are natural springs and this has made an oasis in the desert with high trees and grass. After lunch we ride via another mud flat to one of the camps near the village. Today at the end of the afternoon it’s time to say goodbye to your horse and to the team and you will spend the night at a Bedouin camp where you can wash away all the dust of the desert and where you will enjoy a nice dinner.

Horse riding: Further south through the red desert towards the Disi area in Wadi Rum.

Day 6: Protected Area of Wadi Rum (6 days riding program). Today we will ride via the mudflat to Um Salab where we cross into the Protected Area of Wadi Rum! In about 3 hours we ride via a stunning canyon to Um Ishrin, where we have lunch. After lunch we ride another 3 hours via the highest sand dunes in Wadi Rum and inscriptions of the Nabateans, via Lawrence house to Burdah Bridge where we camp tonight.

Horse riding: From  Disi inside the Protected Area – Um Isrhin – Burdah Bridge.

Day 7: Dead Sea and Mabada (4 days riding program). After breakfast, at 09.30 AM, you will be picked up for a 3 hour transfer to the Dead Sea. You will spend the afternoon at OH Beach Resort, where you have access to the beach, the pools and other facilities and where you will enjoy lunch at Al Omara Restaurant (drinks are not included).

At 5 PM: Transfer to your hotel in Madaba via the scenic Mt. Nebo way through the hills. Overnight at a 3* Hotel in Madaba, including breakfast.

Day 7: More amazing desert (6 days riding program). This morning after breakfast we ride for about 2.5 hours from Burdah Bridge to the back of Um Fruth Bridge and in this area we have our lunch. After lunch we ride in 3 hours from Um Fruth Bridge to the 5 kilometer long Barrah Canyon where we camp. Enjoy the silence!

Horse riding: From Burdah Bridge to Um Fruth Bridge – through the Barrah Canyon

Day 8: Departure (4 day riding program). The driver will pick you from the hotel 2,5 hours before the departure time of your flight, you need to check in 2 hours before departure and from Madaba to Amman airport is just a 25 minute drive.

Day 8: Ride back to civilization (6 days riding program). After breakfast we continue our ride through Barrah canyon and from there towards and through Siq Um Foos and Siq Um Atawaki where we will have the lunch. We ride about 2 to 2,5 hours this morning. After lunch we ride via the mud flat, where we can enjoy another good canter. Today at the end of the afternoon it’s time to say goodbye to your horse and to the team and you will spend the night at a Bedouin camp where you can wash away all the dust of the desert and where you will enjoy a nice dinner.

Horse riding: From the Barrah Canyon to Um Foos siq and Um Atawaki Siq via mudflats in Wadi Rum.
