10 Day Wet’n’Wild Tour around Jordan
Day 1 (D): Airport – Dead Sea – Wadi Mujib
You will arrive at airport and be met by your driver who will take you south to the Dead Sea and Mujib Biosphere Reserve. This wonderful reserve, which ranges from an altitude of 900m above sea level to 400m below, was originally established by the RSCN for the captive breeding of the Nubian ibex, but it also supports a surprising variety of over 400 species of plants (including rare orchids), 186 species of birds and 250 animals. It has also been seriously developed for adventure tourism which you’ll explore tomorrow. Overnight at Mujib Chalets, dinner is included.
Day 2, (B, D): Dead Sea – Wadi Mujib – Karak – Dana
After breakfast, you’ll cross the road and follow the Siq Trail (approx 3 hours). The trail follows the river upstream to the head of the Mujib Gorge. You’ll wade upstream, climb up small waterfalls and swim through small pools to reach a 20m high waterfall. You’ll have time for a swim and relax, before returning to the Visitor Centre. You’ll then drive to Karak and have time for lunch and visit to the castle before travelling further down the King’s Highway to Dana Nature Reserve. Overnight at RSCN Rummana Campsite.
Day 3 (B/L/D): Dana – Wadi Ghweir – Feynan
After breakfast, your guide will take you on an exciting riverbed hike down Wadi Ghuweir. You will follow the stream down the valley, wading and sometimes swimming through pools of water. Wadi Ghweir is beautiful – at the top there are magnificent formations and colours in the sandstone and lower down there are spectacular hanging gardens of fern and palms. A packed lunch will be provided on the way. At the end of the 14km, you’ll find your overnight stay – Feynan Ecolodge. This is one of the 25 best Ecolodges in the world.
Day 4 (B,): Feynan – Aqaba
In the morning, you have the chance to join in some of the activities arranged by the Ecolodge – learn how to bake Bedouin bread or make Arabic coffee; take part in a cooking demonstration or a join a morning hike. After lunch, you will be driven down to Aqaba, arriving in time for a late afternoon glass bottom boat ride. Overnight in Aqaba.
Day 5 (B): Aqaba
Enjoy a day at the beach, relaxing by the pool, snorkeling, and swimming in the sea. There are other water sports available – parasailing; scuba-diving; banana-boat riding; jet-skiing. In the evening, you can explore the souks and restaurants. Overnight stay in Aqaba.
Day 6 (B,L,D): Aqaba – Wadi Rum
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Wadi Rum. A jeep safari will take you to see some of the sights – visit the Nabataean inscriptions, canyons, sand-dunes and Lawrence of Arabia’s House. Lunch will be provided along the way and dinner will be served in the evening, before spending the night under the stars at Khaled’s Camp.
Day 7 (B): Wadi Rum – Petra
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Petra (approx 2 hours) and you have the day to explore some of this extensive UNESCO site. Walk through the winding Siq, and perhaps make the climb to the viewpoint to look down onto the Treasury. Or perhaps climb up the mountain opposite to the High Place of Sacrifice and take the trail down to the Garden Temple Complex. Overnight stay in Petra.
Day 8 (B): Petra
After breakfast, your 4×4 jeep will arrive to take you to the start of the ‘Backdoor hike’. With beautiful views over Wadi Araba, this fantastic hike takes you the backway into Petra, avoiding the 800 steps of the usual route. The guide will show you the way and at the end of the trail you’ll find The Monastery, Petra’s largest monument. You have the rest of the afternoon to explore Petra – the Roman Colonnaded Way, Royal Tombs and of course the impressive Treasury. A walk through the Siq takes you to the entrance. Overnight stay in Petra.
Day 9 (B/L/D): Petra – Wadi al Heba – Evason Ma’in
This morning, your driver will collect you and take you north towards Amman. En-route, you’ll stop at Wadi al Heba where your guide will meet you. The trail begins in a small stream and leads to refreshing pools where hikers can jump in and swim. A winding path through magical scenery and lush vegetation leads to a narrow slot canyon with vertical walls, where hikers are lowered 8m by ropes (optional) through an underground waterfall into a natural pool, from which they exit by sliding into another pool. At the end of the hike, you’ll continue onto Evason Ma’in Hot Springs for an overnight stay. Relax and enjoy the thermal waters under the stars.
Day 10 Evason Ma’in – Airport
The car be will ready to take you to the airport for your flight.
